Healthtech Awards to foster entrepreneurial spirit

At Healthtech Week 2015, Callaghan Innovation in conjunction with MTANZ, NZ HealthIT, ATEED and CMDT introduced the Healthtech Awards for Best Translational Research Project and Best Start-up Opportunity alongside the MedTech Centre of Research Excellence conference and the Innovation and Investment Forum. The prizes are practical and aimed at helping entrepreneurs with market research, benchmarking, marketing and business skills.

The winners were:

Melon Health

Melon Health is a patient management and adherence system that improves care and reduces cost with innovative, scaleable, cost-effective mobile health solutions.

Audience Choice Award for Best Start-up Opportunity, sponsored by Callaghan Innovation:

SimTutor

SimTutor is a training and education platform used in the health sector. SimTutor offers a simple way to create digital training content, with integrated testing modules, using your smartphone and web-browser.

Callaghan Innovation's Diana Siew with Paul Dyson, is an engineer/physicist by training and has worked in medical technology companies internationally for over 30 years. He is an entrepreneur, angel investor and business manager (running the Middle East/Africa business for ResMed since 2005). In mid-2014 he was appointed as one of the founding directors of SimTutor when it was spun-out of Simtics Ltd, a medical e-learning company where he remains a director and shareholder.
